Trials of Hypertension Prevention phase 2

National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), Trials of Hypertension Prevention, phase II.

The intervention measured two interventions: weight loss and sodium reduction.  Weight loss was more effective.  Though short term systolic blood pressure fell in the first six months, by the end of the 36-month study it had gradually returned to its former level despite maintenance of a 40 mmol (920 mg) Na reduction.
